Need professional TIA Portal PLC programming?

Which languages do we use when programming in the TIA Portal environment?

In TIA Portal, we use a set of programming languages compliant with the IEC 61131-3 standard, enabling the creation of clear, flexible and reliable control applications. Thanks to diverse coding methods, we can choose the most suitable solution for each process — from simple logic operations to advanced control and data processing algorithms.

Ladder Diagram (LAD)

LAD is a graphical language that resembles traditional electrical schematics. In TIA Portal, we use it to create clear logic layouts that are easy to analyze and troubleshoot. It works perfectly in applications where intuitiveness and quick operation by maintenance personnel are essential.

Function Block Diagram (FBD)

We use the Function Block Diagram (FBD) language in projects that require modularity and code reusability. FBD allows us to create functions and logic blocks in a graphical form, making it easier to analyze system behavior and reduce the time needed to implement new functionalities.

Structured Text (ST/SCL)

Structured Text, known in TIA Portal as SCL, is a textual language used for more complex computational tasks, sequential control and data processing. Its flexibility and precision make it ideal for implementing advanced algorithms and integrating with other industrial systems.

Statement List (STL)

STL is a low-level language that allows full control over program logic. We use it to optimize controller performance and analyze the detailed sequence of executed instructions. It is particularly useful for servicing and modernizing existing PLC applications.

Sequential Function Chart (SFC)

SFC allows for a clear representation of technological process flows in the form of steps and transitions between them. In TIA Portal, we use it to program sequences, cycles and processes where state logic and operation flow transparency are crucial.

In which industries does TIA Portal programming play a key role in process automation?

Automotive industry

In the automotive industry, where large-scale production process automation is essential, TIA Portal programming serves as a foundation. Assembly, welding and painting lines require precise parameter control and 24/7 operational continuity. With TIA Portal, it is possible to optimize line performance, integrate control systems into one cohesive ecosystem and quickly adapt to new production models. This is the key to reducing errors and maintaining competitiveness in an industry that demands the highest levels of quality and efficiency.

Machine manufacturers

Machine manufacturers use TIA Portal to develop standardized control solutions for their equipment, making integration into end-customer facilities easier. With professional programming, it is possible to design machines with highly flexible configurations that can be quickly adapted to various requirements. Efficient programming supports rapid development of new functions and greater market competitiveness, while providing robust technical support and diagnostics, ensuring end-user satisfaction.

Logistics and Warehousing

In logistics centers and warehouse automation systems, TIA Portal is responsible for controlling robots, conveyors, stacker cranes and the entire internal transport system. PLC programming enables optimization of goods flow, minimizing downtime and increasing throughput. This ensures lower operating costs and continuity of the supply chain. Effective system monitoring and diagnostics allow for quick identification and elimination of faults, which is crucial for efficient inventory management and order fulfillment.

Food and beverage industry

In the food industry, where food safety, hygiene and sterilization are top priorities, TIA Portal enables automation of production processes such as mixing and packaging. Precise control of parameters like temperature, pressure and composition ensures product consistency and compliance with regulations. TIA Portal-based systems support batch tracking and raw material waste reduction while providing flexibility for quick recipe adjustments. This is essential for maintaining high product quality and production efficiency.

Pharmaceutical Industry

The pharmaceutical industry imposes the highest demands on production automation, particularly in the context of GMP standards. Programming in TIA Portal enables the creation of systems that meet strict validation requirements and provide precise control of processes at every stage of drug manufacturing. The ability to track and audit all operations, along with the safety and reliability of machines and equipment, is crucial for maintaining product quality and regulatory compliance. This forms the foundation for error prevention and a consistently high level of process control.

Water and Wastewater Management

Wastewater treatment plants and water management systems require continuous monitoring and control to ensure environmental safety and operational efficiency. TIA Portal enables the implementation of advanced control algorithms that regulate flow rates, chemical dosing and pump operation. Remote management and the reliability of controllers minimize the risk of failures and reduce energy consumption – both crucial for efficient optimization of water treatment and purification processes, supporting sustainable development.
